Passive entertainment does not call for any involvement at all. You mainly sit back, do nothing and enjoy. TV has been the leading form of passive entertainment with kids enjoying cartoons like Ben 10, Dora and so on. Many parents have knowingly and unknowingly misused this form of entertainment by letting their kid watch TV mindlessly for hours and without any form of supervision. While this walks to keep children busy, it is very dangerous.
On the other hand, involving forms of entertainment require the active participation of your child. Their mind must be alert and they must pay attention to what is going on. Their TV shows that try to do this. Indoor games such as scrabble and other board games are also active in nature. The thing with this kind of entertainment is an adult has to be there and many parents find this a challenge. This form of entertainment is better but usually it is much harder to achieve since it takes participation and involvement for both children and parents.
The two forms of entertainment have pros and cons. The simple remedy for a family is to make time for both kinds of entertainment, taking advantage of the benefits each has to offer and avoiding the negatives. Balance is the name of the game here.
Parents have a lot of responsibilities to deal with but never the less; they must find time for wholesome family entertainment. They must proactively create an ambience that stimulated the minds and the bodies of their children, bringing out their creativity and helping them learn new things.
